Kathy and Brett have a very rare heartwarming love story. They were both each others first loves, high school sweethearts, originally of different faiths, AND long distance for a majority of their relationship. After high school, their relationship was separated by cities: Kathy attended UCI while Brett was at UCSD. After they graduated their engagement period was separated even further living on opposing coast: Kathy moved to New York for school, while Brett stayed in California to study. Despite all the statistics and trials counting against them, these two have made it through! All our friends can agree, Kathy and Brett are one of the most solid couples we know: the ultimate example of devotion and commitment.  Their ceremony was extremely emotional for all those present. Even the men were tearing up as Kathy and Brett announced their vows of devotion and love to each other. I could hear the girls behind me stifling sobs as Kathy narrated her endless long distances phone calls with Brett, only to long deeply in her heart that she could be right there beside him. Their love and devotion for each other touched everyone in the audience that day, and I’m sure their wedding will be one that is remembered for years to come! 🙂

I feel so honored to be able to do their Encore (day after) Wedding session! Brett is a huge Star Wars fan, and owns nearly every Lightsaber (sans 3 of them) and is a annual Comic Con 4 day attendee! haha I knew i had to intergrate that geeky aspect into their shoot some how! We definitely had some fun with lightsabers at night.  Kathy loves items that are hand made with love, so much of her wedding was DIY!  This wedding was particularly dear to me because of the precious time I got to spend with Kathy the month and a half before her wedding while she was living with me. Together we sewed together her veil, hand crafted felt boutonnieres, pieced together flower pomanders, and bonded over the woes and joys of wedding planning.

Kathy, I once heard at a wedding that once you live with someone your relationship with them changes. You become so much more than friends, you become family =)  I will miss you so much! Wish you and Brett the best. -xoxo, Michelle

I love this picture too, the wind picked up Kathy’s veil in perfect timing. undefinedundefined

This was fashioned after the Original Star Wars poster, but Gary told me he thought it looked like Tron. To make it a bit more clear, I decided to add a giant “STAR WARS” logo to it. No questions now! haha =D

undefinedDaring Jedi, protecting his princess from an ever menacing foe!

Brett skillfully drew that heart with his lightsaber 🙂

The light waves results of an long exposure that show a path of Brett’s impressive lightsaber wielding skills! =) =)  We must have tried this shot 10 times, but I’m so happy with how it came out! Thanks guys for entertaining me in the freezing cold!
